As Technical Design Manager, you'll define and lead the Technical Design vision for the business. This senior role combines hands-on delivery, team leadership, BIM innovation, and strategic business planning. You will manage a team of technical CAD designers and BIM specialists, oversee project execution and profitability, ensure compliance and quality and play a pivotal role in business development.
You will contribute to LXA's growth through leadership, operational excellence, and client engagement.
+ Lead technical project delivery, mentor the team, uphold BIM/technical standards, and ensure quality assurance across all documentation and site-related work
+ Own and execute BIM protocols, coordinate BIM tools and teams, manage clash detection, and stay current with emerging technologies
+ Oversee the full lifecycle of projects, ensuring design excellence, regulatory compliance, and successful handover
+ Implement QA/QC processes, review and approve all technical outputs, and ensure adherence to industry and client standards
+ Assist in recruiting, developing, and managing a high-performing technical team, including training, appraisals, and resourcing
+ Assist with carrying out fee proposals, monitoring project profitability, managing invoicing, and ensuring accurate forecasting and compliance with contracts
+ Act as a trusted technical advisor, maintain strong client relationships, and clearly communicate complex BIM/technical information
+ Contribute to business growth by securing new projects, promoting repeat work, and representing the company at industry events where possible
+ Drive continuous improvement, contribute to internal initiatives and content, and serve as a visible technical leader within the organisation
+ Senior-level experience in technical design and BIM management within interior design, architecture, or construction
+ Deep understanding of BIM software, standards, and execution
+ Proven leadership and mentoring experience across technical teams
+ Strong commercial acumen and ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and profitability
+ Exceptional communication skills and confidence in client-facing scenarios
+ Proficiency in project/resource management tools
