Born on the French Riviera and running since the 1960s, African Queen makes its Dubai debut at J1 Beach with a beach club and restaurant designed by Humbert & Poyet. We provided Design Management on this Mediterranean-Riviera destination.

African Queen carries a Riviera legacy dating back to the 1960s, and its Dubai debut at J1 Beach needed to hold onto that history while working for a new setting and audience.
We provided design management on the project, built around the original concept by Humbert & Poyet, combining rich wood, lush greenery and contemporary furnishings across both the beach club and restaurant.
The scope covered a relaxed daytime beach club and an elegant evening dining offer within the same footprint, requiring the design to work across very different moods and hours.
African Queen brings its established Riviera character to Dubai's beach club scene.
