Royal Terrace, Crowne Plaza
Grade II listed Royal Terrace hotel reimagined with a Caledonian aesthetic, including The Nook cocktail and whisky bar, inspired by Edinburgh's Royal Botanic Garden.

Set on a tree-lined avenue near Princes Street, the Grade II listed Royal Terrace hotel has been reimagined as Crowne Plaza Edinburgh, with a Caledonian aesthetic inspired by the Royal Botanic Garden. We led Design Management, Project Management, Cost Management and procurement across all 75 guestrooms and public areas.
Case Study Overview
The Royal Terrace hotel is a Grade II listed building on a tree-lined avenue near Princes Street, and reimagining it as Crowne Plaza Edinburgh meant balancing heritage constraints with a contemporary guest experience.
Our scope covered design management, project management, cost management and procurement across all 75 guestrooms, public areas and dining spaces, including The Nook, a boutique cocktail and whisky bar.
Working within a listed building adds real constraints on what can change and how, and the interiors needed to hold onto that heritage while still feeling current, drawing inspiration from Edinburgh's Royal Botanic Garden throughout.
The refurbished hotel feels authentically Caledonian rather than a generic refresh, with heritage and modern elegance working together rather than against each other.
